Nigeria’s training session
Nigeria will meet Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers. Despite Everton’s Alex Iwobi being suspended, Nigeria remains awash with World Cup hopes with the likes of Ighalo and Osimhen, who missed out on the Africa Cup of Nations finals earlier this year.
Also returning to Nigeria after an absence from AFCON are Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis and Rangers defender Leon Balogun. Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman has moved to Nigeria after playing for England’s youth teams.

Nigeria has many quality stars in the squad.
“It’s a good thing for the team, it’s good for the coach that he now has options like Osimhen, Ighalo and Dennis from Watford,” Akpeyi said.
“These are strong players who can give us the results we want. We missed Ighalo and Osimhen at AFCON. Now that they’re back, we hope everything goes as we expected and we qualify for the next round.”
The Super Eagles are trying to qualify for the 7th World Cup final since their first appearance at the 1994 tournament. Akpeyi added: “Ghana is also a strong team, what we need is support. Well prepared and ready to take advantage of opportunities and defend well.”
