The Blues have won a second consecutive Premier League title after beating Leicester 3-1 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. In the previous round, they also won 3 points against Leeds with a 1-0 victory.
However, the fact that Mason Mount was not on the list for the match against Leicester made many people wonder. At first, everyone thought he had an injury. But according to newly revealed information, that is the decision of Chelsea club and coach Graham Potter.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mason Mount is “completely healthy” and could feature in the match against Leicester. But he was left out of the Chelsea squad due to a contract dispute with the Stamford Bridge team.
The England international has not yet agreed to sign a new contract with Chelsea due to disagreements with the BLD. Notably, Mount’s current contract expires in the summer of 2024. There is much speculation about his future next summer. Both Man United, Newcastle and Liverpool are monitoring all developments before approaching Mount.
Speaking before the game against Leicester, Coach Potter described the contract negotiations between Mount and Chelsea as “complicated”. “I spoke to him many times about his situation, football and life in general,” he said.
“My feelings for Mason are very clear. First of all, he’s a great guy, but sometimes these things happen. They’re complicated, and it’s best if I say little about it, let’s talk about it. let them continue to decide what is right for both sides.”
When asked if Mount is in Chelsea’s plans for next season, Potter replied: “Yes”. He also added: “I know this is a decisive moment for him. The important thing is that he will make the decision that is best for himself and his family.”
