On the morning of November 3 (Hanoi time), PSG defeated Juventus 2-1, but the joy of victory of the French team soon disappeared when Benfica beat Maccabi Haifa with a score of 6-1. The team from Portugal won first place in the group, pushing PSG down to second place.

“During the game, we didn’t know how Benfica’s match was going. At the end of the game, some technical staff tried to tell us the result of that match. However, 2nd place is not something too serious because we have entered the round of 16,” AS quoted Mbappe sharing.

PSG lost the top of Group H Champions League despite having the same 14 points as Benfica, with both head-to-head record and difference. PSG ranked second when they only scored 6 away goals, while Benfica’s figure was up to 9, including 6 goals against Maccabi Haifa. The second place in the group means that PSG will face challenging draws in the round of 16. Their opponents can be Real, Man City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich…

During the trip to Juventus’ field, PSG did not have Neymar’s service due to receiving enough penalty cards. Carlos Soler took the place of the Brazilian forward, but was weak and left the field in the 68th minute. “Soler rarely starts. He is different from Neymar. However, we did what we could, playing together and win,” Mbappe added.

Mbappe opened the scoring in the 13th minute after Messi’s pass. Then, he assisted Nuno Mendes to seal a 2-1 victory in the 69th minute. He rose to the top of the list of Champions League top scorers this season with 7 goals, equal to Mohamed Salah.

Mbappe also surpassed Messi to become the youngest player in history to reach 40 goals in the Champions League. The French striker set the record at the age of 23 years, 10 months and 13 days. This record previously belonged to Messi, set in 2011 at the age of 24 years, 4 months and 8 days.
