The Premier League resumes just a week after Spurs duo Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero compete in the 2022 World Cup.
Spurs therefore lacked personnel when returning to the Premier League on Boxing Day against Brentford. Because of the busy schedule of the players, Antonio Conte criticized:
“It’s a strange thing and to be honest, having to play so fast, just a week after the World Cup, makes me not really happy. On the one hand, you’re happy that Tottenham have 12 players in the World Cup, which means we’re on the right track to try to compete for titles in the future.”
Conte is not happy that the Premier League is quickly returning after the World Cup.
“But it’s normal that when you have a lot of players playing a tournament like the World Cup, especially in the mid-season, it’s not easy for them to be at their peak.”
“For this reason, I think I have to make the best decision for the match against Brentford. On the one hand, I have players that I have worked with for four weeks and on the other hand, I have players who have worked hard. at the World Cup and not at its peak at the moment.”
