Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus received huge praise from a Dutch journalist after they helped West Ham United topple Arsenal on Wednesday night. Both players were present from the start when West Ham hosted Mikel Arteta’s side at the London Stadium in the League Cup last 16. They played a huge role in The Hammers brilliantly taking down Arsenal with a convincing 3-1 victory.
Both defensive midfielder Alvarez and versatile striker Kudus moved from Ajax to West Ham in the summer and they are currently doing well in England.

This pair played very well against Arsenal.
The pair performed so well against Arsenal that reporter Henk Spaan, who writes for Amsterdam-based newspaper Het Parool, likened Alvarez to both three-time Champions League/European Cup winner Frank Rijkaard and Johan Cruyff, two of the best players of all time.
“I don’t forget them. Kudus caught the ball in the air with his left foot and pushed it into the far corner.
Meanwhile, Alvarez gesticulated like Cruyff; he blocks the ball and organizes attacks like Rijkaard. No one at Ajax right now is at their level.”
West Ham spent £35.4m to sign Alvarez and paid Ajax a further £38m for Kudus. Both players became targets for Chelsea, but the Blues ended up focusing on other players.
Alvarez and Kudus will be hoping to make an impact once again when West Ham face Brentford in the league on Saturday night. The East London side then host Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday night.
