Director Beppe Marotta confirmed that Inter Milan will make an official complaint to UEFA after thousands of Inter fans were not allowed to enter the field in the match against Porto last night. Talking to Sky Sport Italia, Marotta said: (quoted by Football Italia):
“We celebrate what Inter have not achieved in 12 years. We commend the coach, the players and the fans who were present.”

Inter entered the next round with a 1-0 victory after two matches.
“I would also like to give a thought to the approximately one thousand fans who were left outside the stadium, even if they had regularly purchased tickets. This is surprising and obvious we will make a formal complaint to UEFA to get a full picture of what happened.”
“We met with the local authorities this morning and they ensured that fans would be allowed to enter the pitch, even beyond the confines of the away area. But that did not happen.”
“Most of them are families with children, who are certainly not here to commit acts of violence, but to support their team. I don’t believe the situation is serious enough to ban them from the field.”
“We recognize that UEFA is not at fault, but we feel that with a formal complaint we can prevent this from happening again.”
