In order to prepare for the 31st SEA Games and achieve better results in international tournaments, this year the Vietnamese basketball team competed in many tournaments in Southeast Asia and the continent. Accordingly, at the beginning of 2022, the Vietnamese men’s and women’s basketball teams competed in the ABL 3×3 International Champions Cup 2022 (ABL 3×3 ICC 2022) held in Bali, Indonesia. This is also the first time the Vietnamese women’s basketball team has won a gold medal at an international basketball tournament.

In early July, after the end of the SEA Games, the best pitchers of Vietnamese basketball competed in the basketball tournament of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) system, the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2022 taking place. in Singapore. At the end of July, the men’s basketball team had the opportunity to compete at the FIBA Nations League 2022 in Penang (Malaysia). Most recently in November, the 5×5 men’s basketball team just finished their journey in the first qualifying round of the FIBA Asia 2025 tournament in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In this competition, the boys in red had a big victory in the opening match against Tahiti. However, in the following matches, the Vietnamese team received an unfortunate defeat and had to give up their tickets to the next round for Mongolia (the host), Thailand and Malaysia.
