Last night, Aston Villa traveled to the Netherlands to clash with AZ Alkmaar in the third match of the Europa Conference League group stage. With a slightly superior force, Unai Emery’s team had a decisive 4-1 victory, in which rookie Youri Tielemans also contributed to a team goal.
Tielemans scored his first goal in a Villa shirt.
Discussing Tielemans’ performance, Emery said: “Youri is a very good player and I am 100% sure he will have his best performance in our shirt. He needs more time to get more comfortable with our system.”
Tielemans just moved to Aston Villa last summer. The goal against Alkmaar was also his first goal in his new shirt.
As Emery mentioned, Tielemans had difficulty integrating with the Central England team. He has only played 149 minutes and has never been a starter in the Premier League.
Some reports say that the Belgian midfielder is not satisfied with the current situation and wants to leave. According to Fichajes, two clubs in La Liga, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad, are looking to sign Tielemans in January.
