“Jude Bellingham cost 103 million euros? Before, Real Madrid also had a player arriving for a huge transfer fee, but then he let his career go down,” Toni Kroos said in the meeting. Saved online on June 14.
“It was a failed transfer but look at the positives. Bellingham has come and just say: Welcome to Real Madrid,” Kroos added.
This is not the first time Kroos has shown a cold attitude when talking about Hazard. In March, the German midfielder confirmed he had no regrets for his 1991-born teammate: “I know Eden Hazard has had a difficult time at Real Madrid but perhaps pity is misplaced.”
“I don’t think Eden is having a bad life. In fact, many other players have been in a much more tragic situation than him. His problem is not with money,” the 33-year-old midfielder shared about his team-mate at the club.
“I think everyone has to take some of the responsibility for their situation. I know Eden well, we are close, close friends. I just feel sorry for those who cannot continue to play football because of illness and Eden is not among them,” concluded the 2014 World Cup champion.
Hazard has just been kicked out by Real. The Belgian international’s initial intention was to complete the one-year contract. However, Real refused and spent 7 million euros for this player to leave in the summer of 2023.
In the summer of 2019, Real paid 115 million euros for Chelsea to own Hazard and expect the Belgian player to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Hazard’s mark at the Bernabeu is only encapsulated in the word “disappointed”. Constant injuries and poor form made him fill the list of the most ridiculous deals in “Los Blancos” history.
Despite not playing regularly, Hazard still pocketed a series of titles with Real, including two La Liga titles, a Champions League, a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup and a European Super Cup.
