After two challenging seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi signed as a free agent with Inter Miami this summer.
Messi has 11 goals and 8 assists in 11 matches for Miami. Since Messi’s arrival, the South Florida club has not known defeat, winning the 2023 Leagues Cup and reaching the US Open Cup final.
In a recent sharing, Coach Scaloni revealed that El Pulga is extremely happy in America. In addition, Argentina’s captain confirmed that Messi will play in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, despite having just gone through a period of ‘hard work’ in Miami.
“Messi is ready to play and we are happy to have him, as I always say. The plan is for him to play. If nothing goes wrong, he will play as much as possible. We have no other purpose. For us, it is important that he is on the field. There is no reason to ‘rescue’ Messi if he has no problems.”
Messi once stated that the World Cup in Qatar would be the last international tournament, but after the Albiceleste’s victory on December 18, 2022, El Pulga left open the possibility of participating in the 2026 tournament.
As planned, the defending World Cup champion will welcome Ecuador tomorrow morning (September 8, Vietnam time).
