Mauritania U15 dropped out of the Africa Championship being held in Liberia after a 0-6 loss to Sierra Leone. The Mauritania Football Federation (FIFA) confirmed that the opponent used players far beyond the age limit of the tournament, which is U15.

U15 Mauritania (white shirt) completely lost to the opponent.
“Not only Sierra Leone, we also know that many teams in the league use players of the wrong age. In order to ensure the health and safety of the players, we have decided to leave the tournament“, Marca quoted the announcement of the Mauritania Football Federation.
The Africa U15 Championship currently has only 8 teams remaining. Besides Mauritania, no other team intends to drop out of the tournament.
The pictures of the match show the huge disparity in fitness between the Mauritania and Sierra Leone players. Age cheating among players has long been a problem. The declaration of a younger age helps players prolong their careers, thereby finding opportunities to play in Europe.
Previously, Milan had sued Gambian player, Yusupha Yaffa for lying until he was nearly 10 years old. This player claimed to be born in 1996 to join the Rossoneri U19 team in 2013, but in fact, Yaffa was born in 1987.
