In the match for round 32 of the Premier League 2022/23, MU was allowed to play at home against a Chelsea that no longer had a fighting goal. The Red Devils only need 1 point to officially win tickets to next season’s Champions League.
The determination of the home team was shown from the first minutes. They attacked like a storm and soon got the opening goal in the 6th minute.
From a free kick, Eriksen hung the ball in in annoyance. Casemiro, in an unchallenged position, bravely headed in to defeat Kepa to break the stalemate.
Having got the opening goal quite early, MU’s spirit is even more excited. However, the Reds were at a disadvantage when winger Antony was injured and was forced to leave the field in the 29th minute to make way for Marcus Rashford.
Minutes later, Chelsea rushed to attack and repeatedly threatened David de Gea’s goal. Fortunately for the Red Devils, the visitors’ strikers proved too ungrateful.
In a difficult match, MU suddenly got another goal. Minute 45’+5, Casemiro pushed the ball to Sancho so that this player could assist Martial to put the ball into an empty net to make it 2-0.
In the second half, MU actively gave up the game to Chelsea and implemented a counter-attack plan. The away team still played deadlocked as usual while MU proved to be sharp.
72 minutes, the home team was awarded a penalty after Wesley Fofana fouled Bruno Fernandes in the penalty area. The captain of MU made no mistake to beat Kepa on the 11m mark and raise the score to 3-0.
Only 5 minutes later, Fofana again made a mistake when he passed the ball straight into the MU player’s feet in the condition that Rashford scored to make it 4-0 for the home team.
It wasn’t until the 89th minute that Chelsea got the honorable goal. Substitute Joao Felix himself broke through into the middle and then decisively crossed the corner to make the score 1-4.
Great victory over Chelsea, MU officially has tickets to next season’s Champions League 1 round before. They are 6 points ahead of the 5th ranked team Liverpool while both have only 1 match left. Not only that, the Red Devils also took third place from Newcastle with 2 points more.
