Recently, French police conducted a search of the house of Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaifi. The cause comes from the Qatari billionaire’s alleged involvement in the kidnapping and torture of French businessman Tayeb Benabderrahmane. It is not excluded that the current president of PSG will be expelled from France.
According to Tayeb Benabderrahmane’s application, Al-Khelaifi arrested him in January 2020 in Qatar. Tayeb Benabderrahmane was detained for the next 6 months, even tortured and coerced in connection with a confidential document. According to some sources, when the police searched the house, Al-Khelaifi was absent because he was busy attending the announcement ceremony of the new PSG coach.
The summer of 2023 can be considered a historic disaster for PSG. If President Al-Khelaifi is forced to leave France because of legal problems and is no longer eligible to “pump money”, the Parc des Prices team will surely fall into chaos. Because PSG are in dire need of euros from Qatari owners to make a personnel revolution with new coach Luis Enrique.
Before the incident, the house was searched by the police, the president of Al-Khelaifi was “fighting” intensely with striker Kylian Mbappe. The Qatari billionaire asked the French player to either join the contract early this July, or be put up for sale (Mbappe has announced he will join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024). Because he does not want to face the risk of losing Mbappe next summer, because the 24-year-old striker will then expire his contract with the Paris team.
Mbappe used to be pampered by Qatar owners. They even gave him the right to birth, the right to kill like a sports director, meaning that he could interfere in the team’s transfer issues and fire the coach. This has created a lot of turbulence in the PSG dressing room in the 2022/23 season, especially leading to conflicts between Mbappe and superstars from South America such as Lionel Messi or Neymar.
Lionel Messi has announced his departure from PSG right after the 2022/23 season has not ended. He signed a contract to move to the US to play for Inter Miami club. The final reason why the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner decided to leave the “frustrating place” Parc des Prices was related to the discipline he had voluntarily left to do personal work in Qatar. As soon as Messi lost, PSG lost millions of fans and cut a lot of sponsorship contracts, leading to a decrease in revenue.
Meanwhile, other top stars like Neymar, Mbappe also started to have a disbandment spirit after consecutive seasons PSG could not be crowned in the Champions League arena. They have all announced their intention to find a new destination. That led to many famous coaches turning down PSG, after this team fired Christophe Galtier – who was also arrested by Paris police seven days ago for racial discrimination allegations. In it, Julian Nagelsmann is typical for those who said no to the French capital team.
The thought that PSG would be at peace after choosing the talented general Luis Enrique and just waiting to “bloat” in the transfer market this summer, now they are entangled in the scandal of president Al-Khelaifi. Of course, “without fire, there is smoke”. Once the French police decided to search the house of the current president of PSG, they had concrete evidence in hand. Therefore, the future of the Paris club is very uncertain.
Assuming PSG is no longer “pumped” by Qatari owners, then they will have to return to the old hut with the old pig trough as in the story “The old fisherman and the goldfish”.
