According to a revelation from Beth Tucker, through the act of stripping him of the captaincy, coach Erik Ten Hag clearly showed his intention to part ways with Harry Maguire during the summer transfer window. However, this midfielder still does not want to leave Old Trafford, and the salary proposed by West Ham United is not really reasonable.
The British journalist shared:
“Ten Hag wanted to recruit another midfielder in the summer. Jean-Clair Todibo, Kim Min-jae and Benjamin Pavard are all names that Ten Hag wanted to bring in.”

Maguire has now turned the situation around.
“It’s no surprise that Ten Hag doesn’t want to use Maguire. He took away the captaincy, and I feel like that’s a big enough sign. In pre-season games, you had the likes of Scott McTominay and Tom Heaton named captain in place of Maguire. I think sometimes you have to read the coach’s signals and actions.”
“Ten Hag is very open to the prospect of Maguire leaving, I think he wants this player to leave. Unfortunately, I don’t think Maguire wants to give up his position and the financial factor is not suitable. especially when considering the proposed contract for Maguire.”
