Several Premier League clubs promise a busy summer. In particular, Arsenal and Newcastle are expected to strengthen their squads in the context of returning to the Champions League arena.

Arsenal return to Europe’s top club competition for the first time since 2016/17. Before that, they had 17 consecutive seasons in the Champions League. Newcastle only appeared twice in the Champions League group stage, in the 1997/98 and 2002/03 seasons.

The Premier League is sure to have another explosive transfer season.

The Gunners plan to sell many players this summer to bring in other recruits, especially midfield. Granit Xhaka’s contract expires in June 2024 and is said to have reached an agreement to join Bayer Leverkusen.

Players arriving at Emirates could include Declan Rice, Ilkay Gundogan or Moises Caicedo. The Gunners spent 192 million euros on transfers this season and earned less than 24 million euros from the sale of players.

Newcastle also spent a similar amount and broke the club’s transfer record to own Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for 70 million euros. Even so, they spend carefully and wisely. Coach Eddie Howe promises to continue to plan to increase personnel in accordance with the needs of the team.

In contrast, other clubs, such as Liverpool or Tottenham, face the task of large-scale squad overhauls. Both have been unsatisfactory this season. At that time, The Kop and Spurs needed to spend heavily to catch up with their rivals.

With Chelsea, they spent more than 600 million euros for the last 2 transfer periods, but the squad is not complete. This summer, they promise to push away more than 10 players and at the same time add many other positions to come back stronger.

Man Utd and Arsenal will continue to upgrade the squad.

Man United also splashed money to adjust the squad when the summer transfer window opened. There are still question marks over the future of David de Gea. Should the Spaniard leave, the Red Devils have several options including Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, Valencia’s Girogi Mamardashvili, Porto’s Diogo Costa and Brentford’s David Raya.

Other names being linked to Man Utd include Neymar and Mason Mount. These two deals will cost a huge amount of money. Last summer, United’s spending was under 250 million euros – most of which went to three signings: Anthony, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez.

Do not forget that Man City always has blockbuster contracts that are enough to storm the transfer market. Coach Pep Guardiola regularly refreshes the squad and it will not stop.

This season, Premier League clubs set a new record with more than 2 billion euros spent on 400 transfer and loan contracts over two shopping periods. Next season, the Premier League is likely to break this record, AS said.

Notably, the summer transfer market will officially open on June 14 and close on September 1. Meanwhile, the period for the mid-season transfer (winter transfer window) will start on January 1 and end on February 1, 2024.
