Speaking at the press conference before the match against Bournemouth, coach Erik Ten Hag affirmed that Luke Shaw has played very well in the role of central defender in the last two matches. Despite knowing that Shaw is a quality full-back, Ten Hag also admits Manchester United have been able to approach the game impressively when the player plays as a centre-back.
Metro quotes the Dutch strategist:

Ten Hag praises Luke Shaw.
“In the last two matches, I think Luke Shaw played well and impressed. We also know that he is really good at left-back, but this is an additional option and it is always necessary for a team.”
“Of course, you have your ideas and plans, but sometimes it changes according to the circumstances, for example when Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are sick.”
“Normally they should start in the past games, but then Casemiro played well at centre-back, Luke Shaw also did very well against Forest. I think, against Wolves, we had it. the best match approach with Varane and Luke Shaw.”
