Carlo Ancelotti will be forced to reshape Real Madrid’s midfield in the coming weeks following Aurelien Tchouameni’s injury.
French international Tchouameni suffered a foot injury in Real Madrid’s 2-1 El Clasico win away to Barcelona but played the entire match at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The warning about his injury was issued immediately after the competition when Tchouameni had to undergo medical tests on his return to Madrid.
Los Blancos confirmed a “fracture in the second toe of the left foot.” This is a major obstacle in Tchouameni’s positive start to this season.

The flag went to Modric.
Tchouameni is Ancelotti’s first choice as a holding midfielder, in the diamond system used this season. Eduardo Camavinga is expected to be the first replacement. However, with Tchouameni likely to be out for two months and 10 matches before the end of 2023, Luka Modric can return to play according to Mundo Deportivo.
Modric has publicly admitted his disappointment at not playing more this season and the Croatian veteran could be used in the Champions League as a rotation option.
