In the last 2 home matches (and PSG both lost), Messi was booed by Paris fans when his name was called in the starting line-up.
Former France player Emanuel Petit said that Messi’s treatment at PSG was “an insult to football” and advised the Argentine superstar to leave Paris because “PSG is not a football club”.
The image of Messi being booed by the audience at the Parc des Princes, in stark contrast to the fact that he was praised and worshiped at home while returning to Argentina on duty at the FIFA Days at the end of March.
Or in the Barca Super Classic 0-4 Real Madrid last night in the semi-final second leg of the King’s Cup, the Nou Camp cults also chanted Messi’s name in the 10th minute of the match.
But RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo offers the real reason why PSG fans have turned their backs on Messi and one has to think about it:
“Messi himself never wanted to be there (PSG). He went to Paris because Barca could no longer pay him and the only club that could do that was PSG.
Messi went to Paris but his mind is not here. This season, he’s adapted a bit more but still isn’t happy at PSG.
The PSG audience booed Messi for not seeing his commitment. When you are a fan of this team, what does Messi leave when he leaves? Nothing. It was clearly a failure. Messi is one of the greatest players in the history of football, but he doesn’t belong here and his fate is over.”
Messi is still in the process of negotiating an extension of Messi, but the French media simultaneously announced that the two sides are growing apart.
It is reported that the former Barca captain wants to return to the Nou Camp and the Catalan team are taking steps to do so. Besides, there is a super offer from Al Hilal, ready to pay Messi more than 400 million euros/year to go to Saudi Arabia to play Ronaldo again.
In addition, Beckham’s Inter Miami is offered to Messi to have a share in the team, if he agrees to go to the US to play football.
Information regarding Messi’s future is currently quite “noisy” and will only be resolved when Messi “fixes” where he will play next season.
