However, among all the clubs, Cantho Catfish fans are disadvantaged when they have not yet enjoyed the full basketball atmosphere. The reason is that the home team cannot hold matches at the Can Tho gymnasium as usual. Instead, “Basa Fish” had to leave the familiar headquarters to compete at Tan Binh Gymnasium (HCMC). Despite the difficulties, the loyal fan group of Cantho Catfish, including many members from Can Tho, still regularly travels with the car organized by the team to go to Ho Chi Minh City to cheer for the home team.

In the 7th season of VBA, Cantho Catfish fans rejoiced with the return of DeAngelo Hamilton and Sang Dinh. The duo who once made Cantho Catfish’s heyday became the two main pitchers, bringing the opening victory at VBA 2022 for the western representative against Danang Dragons. The next journey of the 2018 VBA champion was fraught with difficulties as he was often exhausted in the decisive round and missed many important victories.
It was not until the sprint stage that Cantho Catfish shook the tournament when it surpassed the top teams in the rankings such as Ho Chi Minh City Wings, Hanoi Buffaloes and Saigon Heat. These names then all reached the semi-finals, with Saigon Heat becoming the new champion of VBA. Despite impressive victories, with an overall record of 4 wins and 8 defeats, Cantho Catfish could not pass the group stage to participate in the VBA 2022 semi-finals.

In addition to the matches that once took away fans’ tears, VBA 2022 is also the season to help the western team launch pitcher Le Khac Dang Khoa. After many matches showing confidence and efficiency, the new face of Cantho Catfish was honored in the category of rookie athlete of the year at the VBA Awards. Also at this award ceremony, foreign soldier Bueno Amaury received the award for sportsmanship. The striker DeAngelo Hamilton continues to be the quality pitcher of “Cá Basa” when receiving the double nominations of the best defensive athlete of the year and the best athlete of the year. Sang Dinh also received two nominations in the categories of Vietnamese-American Athlete of the Year and Favorite Athlete.
