However, they are about to march to St. James’ Park after being eliminated from the Carabao Cup by West Ham, the same night that Newcastle United won an impressive 3-0 victory over Manchester United.
The German midfielder has not played well since joining Arsenal.
Notably, one Arsenal player who has not played up to expectations since the beginning of the season is Kai Havertz. He has struggled to make an impact since completing a £65m move from Chelsea in the summer.
The 24-year-old has only scored one goal and contributed one assist in 16 appearances. All plans to use Havertz up to this point have been ineffective.
Witnessing this, Paul Merson said: “Havertz started in midfield with Jorginho and Fabio Vieira in the match against West Ham.
I feel a bit sorry for him, because it’s not his preferred position and he doesn’t really have a permanent role in the team.”
