Marcos Alonso joined Barcelona in last summer’s transfer window after terminating his contract with Chelsea. He quickly became a quality choice for the Catalan Giants’ defense.
However, in the current season, with Xavi having younger options at the full-back position such as Alejandro Balde or Joao Cancelo, he is no longer used.

Alonso has currently only played 240 minutes and showed an unimpressive performance. It is known that Barca wants to part with him to free up his salary fund, while the 32-year-old star is also considering finding a new stop to improve his playing time.
Football Transfers said, Atletico Madrid really wants to sign Alonso and they have begun to open negotiations to explore the possibility of bringing the former Chelsea star to Wanda Metropolitano.
Alonso is seen as a suitable addition to Diego Simeone’s 5-3-2 system, where he will take on the left-sided centre-back role in the context of Mario Hermoso’s possible departure this summer.
