After the recent breathtaking draw between Manchester City and Chelsea, coach Diego Simeone gave his personal opinion that Premier League teams do not focus on defense, leading to many such entertaining matches.
Rodri does not agree with Simeone’s point of view.
“You see English football now and games end 4-4, 5-3, 6-2 or 5-1, which is great for the fans. Like Chelsea vs Manchester City. These are all interesting matches to watch but no one focuses on defense,” he shared.
However, the Atletico Madrid captain’s opinion immediately received rebuttal from his former student Rodri.
“I disagree a bit. Not every team plays the same, but when facing Man City, there are many teams that look to defend throughout the 90 minutes. Of course, this is not always the case and for other matches there will be more open spaces, but This is a tough league with a solid defense.”
