Specifically, Alejandro Balde left the Spanish team after the 2-0 victory over Scotland in the Euro qualifiers due to injury. The left-back was taken off the field at half-time and is now on his way back to Barcelona.
The official statement from the Spanish Football Federation home page reads:
“Nico Williams and Alejandro Balde have left the team due to physical problems after Spain’s victory over Scotland. Williams has had a muscle strain since last Tuesday, while Balde also feels unwell.”

Balde was injured when he joined the national team.
This is no different from a shock for coach Xavi Hernandez. Originally, this coach did not have many players on hand due to injuries. There were concerns about Gavi’s fitness before the match, but this young talent still played the full 90 minutes against Scotland.
Returning to Spain, the victory over Scotland helped them shorten the gap with their opponents to 3 points but played 1 less match.
