Reuters revealed that the Glazer family, who have owned Man Utd since 2005, will withdraw completely as part of the deal. Qatar’s owners have yet to reach a formal agreement, but if it does, it will be the most expensive acquisition in sports history, with a final fee of up to £6 billion.
Reuters claims that Sheikh Jassim is seen by the Glazers as the preferred choice as they are “ahead of” British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group. Shares of the Red Devils jumped about 15% following the news.
On the other hand, Sheikh Jassim set up a company in the UK on June 15, with Sheikh Jassim said to be the director along with Abdulrahman Al-Ansari. The paperwork for the operation of Nine Two Holdings Ltd was sent out many months ago. It shows that the Arab owners have everything ready to take over Man Utd.
Earlier, a newspaper in Qatar, Al Watan confirmed that Sheikh Jassim has successfully acquired Man Utd and the information will be officially announced in the near future.
