Arsenal knew that a victory at the Emirates would maintain the top spot in the Premier League after round 14. Therefore, they pressed high up the field and it only took 6 minutes to take the lead. Bukayo Saka took a pass from Takehiro Tomiyasu on the right side of the box, beat Craig Dawson and fired a shot that Jose Sa could not stop.
Arsenal quickly doubled the gap, tearing apart the Wolves defense with a picturesque smash on the left wing. Oleksandr Zinchenko ran down after Gabriel Jesus’ pass to cross inside for Martin Odegaard to finish into the far corner.
After the break, Arsenal suddenly reduced their attack power, allowing Matheus Cunha to shorten the score. However, Arsenal still won 2-1. Below are the scores of each player scored by 90min.
Goalkeeper: David Raya – 7/10 – Rarely shows his talent because Wolves find it difficult to create opportunities. Made an excellent save in the match.
Right-back: Takehiro Tomiyasu – 7/10 – Regularly supported Saka on the right wing and even assisted the winger’s opener. Solid defense continued to exclude Ben White from the starting lineup.
Center back: William Saliba – 6/10 – Not the best match for Arsenal because he was not pressured by the Wolves strikers too often. Received a negligent yellow card for aggressive behavior towards Hwang Hee-chan.
Center back: Gabriel Magalhaes – 7/10 – Great tackle to stop Cunha scoring late in the first half. That was almost the only time he was forced to defend.
Left back: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7/10 – Assisted Odegaard with an impressive move. He often moves into the midfield to help Arsenal overwhelm their numbers. Made a mistake in the loss but did not cause serious consequences.
Central midfielder: Martin Odegaard – 8/10 – Showed class throughout the match. Undeniable talent was demonstrated through the precise finish that helped Arsenal score the second goal. The Gunners looked much better when Odegaard regained his touch on the ball.
Central midfielder: Declan Rice – 8/10 – Another epic performance from Rice as he continuously swept the midfield. Make it look easy and dominate the midfield battle.
Central midfielder: Leandro Trossard – 6/10 – Outstanding and influential player in the first half. After the break, he played ineffectively.
Right winger: Bukayo Saka – 8/10 – Constantly threatening, opening the score for Arsenal with some neat finishes in the penalty area.
Striker: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10 – Admits that scoring goals is not his forte, Jesus demonstrated his ability to link play against Wolvesalthough this lessened a bit in the second half.
Left wing: Gabriel Martinelli – 7/10 – Arsenal’s attacks came a lot from the left wing. He caused many difficulties for the Wolves defender but lacked a bit of sharpness in the final handling.
On the field as a substitute: Eddie Nketiah 6/10, Kai Havertz 6/10, Ben White 6/10, Jakub Kiwior and Jorginho did not score.
