Even if they win legally, it is still difficult for the Super League to take place because of fierce opposition from football federations across Europe. Most recently, the Serie A organizing committee made the first move to prohibit clubs from participating in this “spontaneous” tournament.
According to Calcio e Finanza, a new rule has been drafted in the registration form for the 2024/2025 Serie A season, requires clubs to commit not to participate in any tournament organized by private associations that are not recognized by FIFA, UEFA or the Football Associations.
If they do not agree to sign this document, teams will be denied a license and cannot register to compete in Serie A in the 2024/2025 season. Representatives of Italian football initially invited to participate in the Super League included Juventus (founding member), in addition to Inter Milan and AC Milan.
The Serie A organizing committee believes that the quality of the tournament will decrease day by day if clubs participate in the Super League. Therefore, they did not hesitate to find ways to sabotage this project right from the bud.
