
Sania Mirza and teammate Madison Keys received a 4-6, 0-6 defeat to Russian tennis players Veronika Kudermetova and Liudmila Samsonova. After the match, the 36-year-old beauty announced that she would hang up the racket after 20 years of playing professionally.
Playing on the WTA Tour since February 2003, until now, Sania Mirza has only had one women’s singles championship and the highest ranking is 27th on the WTA scoreboard.
However, the Indian beauty was very successful in the doubles content, when she won a total of 43 WTA doubles titles, including six Grand Slams.
Sania Mirza ranks eighth among the longest-serving women’s doubles world number one players, with 91 weeks, from April 2015 to August 2016, and fourth for consecutive weeks, respectively behind. Liezel Huber (134), Cara Black (145) and Martina Navratilova (181 weeks).
Not only is the most successful tennis player of the Indian felt ball village, Sania Mirza is also admired by many for her attractive beauty.
The beauty born in 1986 was named in the list of “100 influential people in the world” in the 2016 edition of Time magazine.
