Hassan Thomas has a Vietnamese grandmother. He was born in Dallas (Texas, USA) and owns a height of 2.03 m, weight 98 kg. This overseas Vietnamese athlete used to play for UIC Athletics in NCAA Division I.

After graduating in 2019, Le Hai Son went to Europe and signed his first professional contract with Sampaense Club in Portugal. He became a starter in 21 games, averaging 16.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, a 53.5% throwing performance and having a 3-pointer success rate of 33.3 %.
