Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of his generation, having won 5 Ballon d’Or awards. However, things have not gone as planned for the Portuguese captain in recent months.
Ronaldo initially failed in his bid to join a Champions League club during the summer transfer window. After that, the 37-year-old was regularly on the bench under coach Erik ten Hag.

Ronaldo used to be the number 1 star in the world.
Ronaldo finally launched an attack on Man United and Ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan. That interview led to Man United terminating his contract before the 2022 World Cup.
Ronaldo was then benched by Fernando Santos in Portugal’s knockout matches. He was criticized for his form and attitude. But Alaba has come to Ronaldo’s defense, showing that much of the criticism directed at him is unfair.
Alaba said: “What he has accomplished in the last 15 years, I am personally really grateful. He helped shape our generation. What he has achieved is unbelievable. It’s sad and unfortunate that you have to see scenes like that or read such things about him.”
