Kalvin Phillips is facing a big question mark about his future in the context that he cannot compete for a starting position at Man City. From a star considered to be the Premier League’s top midfielder, the former Leeds United player’s career has declined since arriving at the Etihad.
Phillips did not meet the requirements of coach Pep Guardiola. Therefore, both Man City and the British star himself have thought about breaking up.
There are quite a few teams paying attention to Phillips. However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool has not really participated in the race because their transfer plan was only approved at the end of the year.
“As mentioned before, it is increasingly likely that Kalvin Phillips will leave Manchester City this January. But I am not aware of any negotiations with Liverpool at this stage, regardless of sources from elsewhere.
“At the moment the Liverpool transfer situation is quite quiet, no decision will be made in October on plans for additional personnel in January – it will be decided later this year.”
