Rio Ferdinand pointed out the reason why Dortmund won.
The legendary Manchester United midfielder gave the reason why Newcastle had to admit defeat despite playing at home. Rio Ferdinand said that, Borussia Dortmund players are no strangers to having to play in such an atmosphere. That is the difference compared to PSG.
“We were talking about the passionate atmosphere when Newcastle United met PSG and the fans continued to show that. But Dortmund is an experienced team, the players know how to deal with it. They defend tenaciously but also bring a threat at the other end of the field,” Rio Ferdinand shared.
Ferdinand believes that the away team’s players are used to the pressured atmosphere.
In the next match, Newcastle United must march to Signal Iduna Park, home ground of Borussia Dortmund. Eddie Howe and his team will be able to witness firsthand the famous “yellow wall” that German fans use to encourage home team players, as well as intimidate opponents.
