The La Liga giants face the top of the Premier League table in the semi-final second leg tonight, in which the winner will meet Inter Milan in the final. The first leg a week ago at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium ended with a 1-1 draw, meaning that the two teams will have to work very hard to win tickets to the final round.
However, the preparation was not ideal for coach Carlo Ancelotti’s side, as they were stranded outside Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport, according to The Mirror.
When they arrived in the UK, the team was shocked when their bus didn’t arrive on time. Multiple sources revealed that the entire team waited outside Terminal 2 for about 40 minutes. Finally, they were taken to the Hyatt Regency hotel to continue preparing for the match.
Of course, coach Ancelotti’s teachers and students were not very happy when they had to stand outside the station door waiting for the bus to take them back to the hotel.
Speaking ahead of the climax, Pep Guardiola complained about the schedule as he complained about having to play Sunday in the Premier League.
“I can’t get it, but I’m not going to fight this anymore. I don’t understand but we have to adapt. The schedule is like that, it’s frustrating for me but I won’t complain about it.” Guardiola shared.
Sharing the same opinion as Guardiola, coach Ancelotti said: “Guardiola is right… he’s right. Maybe it would have been better if they played on Saturday. It’s the same with us, having a semi-final on Saturday. Tuesday… I don’t know.”
Real will be looking to win a second consecutive Champions League and a 15th title in their history, while City will be hoping to win the prestigious trophy for the first time.
