Mr. Campos’ task is to build a transfer plan for the Parisian team at the next summer market. In addition, the former leader of Monaco is also responsible for balancing revenue and expenditure and avoiding PSG’s violation of the Financial Fair Play Law in the 2023/24 season.
Campos was appointed as a consultant at PSG in the summer of 2022. He has a close relationship with Kylian Mbappe’s family for nearly a decade, since the player played for the youth team of Monaco. French media say PSG is ready to part with Lionel Messi or Neymar this summer to build the team around Mbappe as the center.
The news that PSG guaranteed Campos’ future appeared a few days after Mbappe publicly protested against the host team for arbitrarily using his image to promote the 2023/24 season ticketing campaign. Facing the toughness of the new captain of the French team, the Paris capital club had to give in and delete the aforementioned promotional video.
Mr. Campos was the one who persuaded the PSG leader to sign Galtier in the summer of 2022. However, the relationship between the two sides is said to have broken in recent months after the defeat in the Champions League. Le Parisien said coach Galtier was not pleased to see Mr Campos appear in the dressing room to reprimand the player in the defeat to Monaco and Lille on 11 and 19 February.
In the event that PSG sacks Galtier, Mr. Campos will be one of the people who decide on the position of the club’s captain in the 2023/24 season. Zinedine Zidane, Luis Enrique or Julian Nagelsmann are potential candidates to sit in the hot seat at PSG.
According to L’Equipe, Mr. Campos also plans to add strength to PSG in three positions: central midfielder, winger and centre-forward. Except for the case of midfielder Milan Skriniar, who will join PSG on a free transfer this summer, the Ligue 1 club are interested in striker Victor Osimhen (Napoli) and midfielder Youssouf Fofana (Monaco). The Osimhen deal alone can cost PSG no less than 100 million euros.
