According to a report from Le Parisien, PSG is about to finalize the contract extension of midfielder Marquinhos. Despite the erratic performance in club and national team colors, PSG still put their full faith in Marquinhos.
Negotiations on a new Marquinhos contract began last season during the reign of former sporting director Leonardo. His successor Luis Campos continued to carry out the remaining phases of the negotiations.
After the departure of Thiago Silva, Marquinhos is expected by PSG fans to shoulder the responsibility of captaining and fill the void left by Silva. However, basically, Marquinhos could not deliver the expected performance.
Marquinhos is the mainstay of PSG.
Marquinhos was a big disappointment in PSG’s 1-3 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League last season. The Brazilian midfielder passed the ball to the wrong address, creating conditions for Karim Benzema to shoot the home team’s net.
