“Everyone has their own opinion but no one can doubt that Lionel Messi is the best player of all time,” Pep Guardiola said in an interview before the match against Liverpool in the last 16 of the League Cup. “For me, he (Messi) is the best, it is difficult to understand when (people) say that another player can compete with what Messi did.”
The Spaniard continued to analyze: “People who watch Pele or Di Stefano or Maradona have their opinion. Opinions always contain emotions, but in another aspect, if he (Messi) is not insignificant. During the World Cup, my opinions and views remain unchanged.”
With the World Cup in 2022 with Argentina, Messi admits he conquered the most important title of his career. The 35-year-old superstar’s collection of individual and collective trophies is more complete than Pele, Diego Maradona or Cristiano Ronaldo, who are often compared to Messi.

The Man City captain also acknowledged that the 2022 World Cup title is an extraordinary achievement for the last leg of Messi’s career. He assessed: “It’s normal for people to judge you based on the title you win. Messi has the last cherry attached to an extraordinary career.”
Guardiola is not the only one who believes that Messi is the best player of all time. Andy Murray even goes as far as to suggest that the PSG player is the greatest sportsman of all time. The person who won 3 Grand Slam titles wrote on his personal page: “Is Messi the best sports athlete of all time? Forget it’s just football. What a great guy.”
