Erling Haaland started against Bournemouth at the Etihad as goals from Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva (double), Manuel Akanji, Phil Foden and Nathan Ake brought three points to Manchester City. However, Haaland was replaced by Foden immediately after the break. He was seen limping down the tunnel.
The Norwegian is in danger of missing the upcoming Champions League match against Young Boys on Tuesday. However, he is expected to return to prepare for the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea next Sunday.
Pep is careful with Haaland’s injury problem.
Speaking after the match, coach Pep Guardiola clarified Haaland’s injury issue, quoted from Standard:
“Haaland twisted his ankle, we don’t want to risk him. Haaland felt uncomfortable. He can return on Tuesday but is also likely to return next Sunday.”
The Etihad Stadium team is top of the Premier League, despite having played one more match than Tottenham Hotspur. Before making room for the international series, Man City also has to face Chelsea.
