“Me and the team met in 2014. I spent many great moments in my career with the team and the fans here. Today, I return to what is considered my second home.” Pato said in a video posted on the Sao Paulo homepage on May 26.
This is the third time that the former AC Milan striker plays for Sao Paulo. The 33-year-old striker played for the Brazilian club between 2014-15 and 2019–20, scoring 35 goals in 107 games.
Globo revealed that Pato asked for permission to practice in Sao Paulo in February after knee surgery. After that, the former Milan striker expressed his desire to play for Sao Paulo when he recovered from his injury. Head coach Dorival Junior decided to recruit Pato to help increase the depth of the club’s attack.
Pato’s income level was not disclosed. Globo said the 33-year-old striker will receive a solid salary and bonuses based on performances on the pitch. Before returning to Brazil, Pato played 27 games and scored 4 goals for Orlando City in the MLS. He was not allowed to renew the contract with this team.
