At the 2022 World Cup, Andre Onana clashed with head coach Caemeroon and left the team’s concentration camp. He also decided to part ways with his international career.
After losing to Arsenal 1-3, Onana withdrew this decision and will continue to dedicate herself to the national team.
Specifically, Onana announced: “In the world of football as well as in life, decisive moments arise that require important choices to be made.
In recent months, I have faced unfair and somewhat manipulative challenges. However, my love and unshakable attachment to my homeland Cameroon remains intact.”

Onana returns to the team.
Onana added: “My desire to represent my country has never wavered since I was young and this aspiration remains an inseparable part of my identity. Nothing and no one can shake this belief.
I respond to my country’s call with the awareness that my return is not only to realize my dream but also to respond to the expectations and support of the Cameroonian people, who deserve a strong national team.
Faced with manipulation, lies and abuse of power, I choose to stay true to my ideals, proudly representing a country worthy of the greatest commitment. Now is the time to unite, work in harmony for the common good of our team Cameroon.
I want to salute the government’s efforts to build a better Cameroon for all. My thoughts are with the people of Cameroon, to whom I extend my endless thanks for their support and whom I look forward to seeing again.
My commitment to Cameroon remains unchanged and I am determined to help this country prosper.”
