The Nantes club is ranked 11th on the Ligue 1 rankings with 15 points after 13 matches and after the team’s streak of 4 consecutive unwinning matches, the club’s head coach, Mr. Pierre Aristouy, was fired in Wednesday morning this week.
Tonight, the FC Nantes homepage posted an article officially appointed Mr. Jocelyn Gourvennec to take over Aristouy’s position at the club starting from Wednesday, November 29, 2023 with a contract until the end of this season with an additional year option.
Previously, newspapers such as L’Equipe, RMC Sport and Foot Mercato all confirmed that Mr. Gourvennec, who has been unemployed since leaving Lille OSC 18 months ago, will take over management at Beaujoire Stadium. The French coach was a candidate for the coaching role at the French U21 team but that position eventually went to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Gourvennec played football for Nantes from 1995 to 1998, scored 32 goals in 109 appearances and ended his professional career in 2006 to participate in coaching 2 years later.
