In April 2023, Leicester City appointed Dean Smith to several head coaches, along with a team of assistants including former player John Terry. Mr. Smith replaced Brendan Rodgers at a time when the Foxes were penultimate and 2 points from the safe area.
Despite their best efforts, Leicester still could not successfully stay in the relegation zone. The champion of England in the 2015/16 season once rained and stormed the Premier League. However, they fell off the cliff in a short time. Leicester’s fairy tale also ends.
Leicester decided not to keep Smith. Very fast, they succeeded in appointing Enzo Maresca as head coach. Maresca is none other than the assistant coach who has just helped Pep Guardiola bring Man City to a historic treble.
“Enzo, 43, has agreed to sign a contract at King Power Stadium until 2026 and begin work immediately in preparation for the new Championship season,” Leicester said in a brief statement.
“I am very excited and because we have an important season ahead of us,” Maresca said.
The goal is to play in the best possible way. From there we can build from day to day our ideas and our philosophy, and the most important thing is to try to win the games.”
