After welcoming Romanian goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan and Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, Atletico Madrid has just announced a new reinforcement in the center of the defense.
Specifically, Brazilian player Gabriel Paulista (33 years old) joined the capital Madrid team from Valencia. This is an experienced midfielder with nearly 270 matches in all competitions alone for Valencia (220) and Villarreal (48) clubs.
Notably, “Los Che” released Gabriel because this player has an automatic extension clause if he plays 20 matches. However, Valencia did not want to respond because it could not afford to pay the former Arsenal star’s salary for another season.
Therefore, this is a free transfer deal. Gabriel arrived at Arsenal in January 2015 under Arsene Wenger.
The then 24-year-old player arrived at the Emirates from Villarreal for about 10 million pounds. Initially, he impressed with his ability to compete fiercely and strongly.
However, the Brazilian player did not last long at Emirates Stadium. He left Arsenal in 2017 and has played for Valencia since then.
