At the 2022 World Cup, Ronaldo was pushed to the bench in both Portugal’s matches in the knockout round. This is also the first time in 14 years, CR7 was excluded from the starting line-up of “Seleccao” at a major tournament.

As for Evra, he used his own experience to talk about the difficulties Ronaldo is facing. In the last years of his career, the French full-back was criticized by Marseille fans because he did not contribute much. In March 2017, Evra lost his temper and kicked a fan in the stands. This action caused him to be liquidated by the Velodrome home club.

“Sometimes you get criticized too much, especially at the end of your career. At that point, you think, maybe now is the time to stop,” Evra said.

Returning to Ronaldo, Evra added: “It must be an indescribable feeling, when you are not starting for the national team. Winning the World Cup is Ronaldo’s biggest wish. Now, no matter what he does. Ronaldo was also labeled a ‘bad guy’ and ‘bad player’.

Earlier, the Portuguese press revealed that Ronaldo is said to have no intention of retiring. However, CR7’s plan is only to devote to the homeland team until EURO 2024.

At the club level, Ronaldo is also rushing to find a new team after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract with Man United.
