On a night when Romelu Lukaku was the talk of Inter Milan fans, Marcus Thuram, who directly replaced the Belgian striker, scored in a 1-0 win over Roma to send the Nerazzurri back to the top of the Serie A table. Thuram received Federico Dimarco’s pass from close range in the 81st minute and shot through Jose Mourinho’s crowded defense.
With Mourinho suspended and having to watch from the stands, Roma had to play deep and receive attack after attack from Inter. In the first half, Roma suffered 12 shots without a single shot towards the opponent’s goal. During the whole match, Inter launched 19 shots and 1 of them flew into the away team’s net.

Thuram completely overshadowed Lukaku.
The victory moved Simone Inzaghi’s team two points ahead of Juventus at the top of the table, while Roma finished eighth. AC Milan remains third, three points behind, after squandering a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw against defending champions Napoli.
On a day when all eyes were on Roma’s Lukaku facing his old club, the striker’s biggest impact was squandering Inter’s corners. This gives Milan fans many opportunities to mock the Belgian striker.
