Newcastle United has returned to the Champions League after more than 20 years. However, the journey of the “young master” of EPL promises to be full of thorns when they fall into the table of death against the great clubs Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.
The first match in the group stage will be Newcastle’s trip to San Siro Stadium in Milan. This is also the place where Chi Chi last attended the Champions League in the 2002-03 season, where they faced Inter Milan.

Newcastle fell into the table of death.
Reacting after the draw, Newcastle CEO Darren Eales said:
“You think about AC Milan, I know in 2003 we had almost 10,000 fans there.
Paris Saint-Germain is a royal football team. Borussia Dortmund is also a great football club. Both communities of fans will appreciate each other as the frenetic atmosphere at St James’ Park on the first night will be something truly special.
We are really delighted. 20 years is a long time without the Champions League. We’ve had a great season and we’re not just here to make the numbers, we want to compete on every front. We have six big games ahead of us in the group stage but we have a great coach (Eddie Howe) and great players.”
