Coach Erik ten Hag wants to upgrade the MU midfield for the 2023/24 season through the addition of quality factors.
According to the Telegraph, Brighton’s pair Mac Allister and Caicedo have been targeted by the Manchester team.
In fact, MU encountered many difficulties in a few moments when Casemiro and Eriksen were absent. Fred and McTominay did not receive the trust, while Sabitzer was only a temporary fire fighting solution.
It is likely that the Austrian player will return to Bayern Munich when the loan contract ends. MU leaders have not considered buying Sabitzer outright.
Instead, they focus on targeting more potential young names who have been challenged in the Premier League environment such as Mac Allister, Caicedo or Declan Rice.
Caicedo almost joined Arsenal at the beginning of the year but then “turned the car” to sign a contract extension with Brighton.
His new contract is valid until the summer of 2027. Therefore, to have the service of young Ecuadorian talent, MU will have to spend at least 80 million pounds.
The Mac Allister value doesn’t come cheap either. Brighton used to want £70 million for the 2022 World Cup champion. However, the fee may increase even more when many teams are interested in the Argentinian player.
Mac Allister recently admitted that he wants to continue playing in the Premier League if he decides to say goodbye to the Amex Stadium team.
In Ten Hag’s transfer list, there are also two backup names for the midfield, Declan Rice and Sofyan Amrabat.
