Castello Lukeba is only 20 years old, entering his first season at RB Leipzig after moving from Lyon in the summer of 2023 for a fee of about 28 million pounds. This is the amount of money reinvested after they sold Josko Gvardiol to Man City for 78 million pounds.
Lukeba has played in 10 of RB Leipzig’s 11 matches this season. He is forming a promising partnership with another talented French centre-back, Mohamed Simakan. Lukeba was recently called up to the French national team, and was released in October. In the U21 team, he was even chosen as captain, and has made 14 appearances.
WhoScored rates Lukeba highly for his passing and interception abilities, but is weak in aerial duels. Compensate, Versatility is his strong point, as Lukeba can play well in the left-back position.
It is understandable for Man United to consider Lukeba, because the futures of Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane are still unclear, while Jonny Evans only has a one-year contract.
