Victor Lindelof’s contract with the Manchester team will expire in the summer of 2024. However, MU ensures that the Swedish defender will stay for at least one more season.
Lindelof was used by Ten Hag 18 times this season. However, the former Benfica midfielder is suffering from a groin injury and has had to rest recently.
MU leaders decided to renew with Lindelof in the context that the future of another midfielder – Raphael Varane – was questioned.
British media said that Varane will likely leave Old Trafford next summer when the contract between him and MU expires.
Currently, Raphael Varane is one of the players with a high salary at MU (340,000 pounds/week), only lower than Rashford and Casemiro.
Therefore, if he wants to stay at Old Trafford, the French star must accept a salary reduction. Varane is receiving a lot of attention from Italian and Saudi Arabia teams.
In other developments, the contracts of Wan-Bissaka and Hannibal Mejbri will expire in the summer of 2024. Therefore, to avoid the risk of losing everything, MU will activate the extension clause for another 12 months.
Currently, Wan-Bissaka must try to compete for a position with Diogo Dalot on the right wing. While Mejbri has appeared in 5 Premier League matches since the beginning of the season.
