AS Roma won in the third match of Group G Europa League. Jose Mourinho and his team defeated Slavia Praha with a final score of 2-0. Edoardo Bove and Romelu Lukaku scored in turn, giving Roma a triumph.
The important victory helped Roma maintain the top spot in Group G with 9 absolute points after three matches. In an interview with Sky Sports Italia after the match, Mourinho said:
“We know Slavia Prague is a strong team. If you give them a lot of space and playing time, the home team will be in big trouble. Roma pressing and pressuring allows us to stop them, and at the same time create an opportunity to counterattack”.
“Slavia held the ball better in the second half. They always controlled the game. The intensity and energy of the Roma players decreased in the second half. Some players sat out for long periods of time. . That means some players have had to play continuously over time.”
“Look at names like Mancini, Cristante, Ndicka, Lukaku…. They have played every minute this season. Therefore, they definitely have reduced physical strength when playing in the second half“.
