Saliba has been successful this season with his performances at the heart of Arsenal’s defence. Mikel Arteta’s side are leading the Premier League with a five-point lead over Man City, largely thanks to their solid back four, who have conceded just 11 goals in 14 Premier League games.
Saliba’s performance earned him a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad, where he will compete with Jules Kounde, Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano for a starting spot.
While the 21-year-old is a relatively new member of the Les Blues squad, his old friend is the team’s No 1 star and has won the world championship four years ago.

Mbappe is already the top star of the French team.
Both Mbappe and Saliba grew up in Bondy, a northeastern suburb of Paris, and it was there that they took their first steps in football.
“I grew up on an estate,” said Saliba. I also know Kylian Mbappe. He attended my elementary school when we were kidsand his father was also my coach when I was young.”
For now, the pair will travel to Qatar hoping to help France win its second consecutive World Cup and a third in the country’s history.
