Marcos Alonso was both a hero and a villain in the match against Espanyol. He started the game very well with a goal, but was unfortunate enough to accidentally step on Joselu during a challenge, leading to a penalty and ultimately a 1-1 draw in the derby.
Regarding the penalty kick, Marcos said: “I don’t know if I stepped on him with my shoe, bad luck. We need to keep working, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We hope that many victories will come and we enjoy every game here.”
Alonso left his mark on both goals in the derby.
Although Barca drew and Real Madrid won against Valladolid, Xavi’s team is still temporarily leading the La Liga table with the same 38 points, but better than the great rival in goal difference – defeat.
Barca scored less than Real but they are defending excellently with only 6 goals in 15 matches. In the next round, the Blaugrana will have a difficult match against Atletico.
